We all know the power of a good beauty routine. When our skin is clear, our makeup is on point, and we feel confident in our clothes, it shows. We command attention in meetings, we get compliments from friends, and we feel like we can take on the world. That's the power of looking good-- and that's why I'm such a big fan of cosmetics.
Cosmetics are so much more than just a way to look good; they're a way to feel good. We all have those days where we don't feel our best, but with a little help from our favorite products, we can fake it 'til we make it. And sometimes, faking it is all we need to turn our day around. Once we've got that confidence boost, the rest is easy.
How Makeup Can Help With Self-Confidence
I'm not saying that you need makeup to be confident-- far from it! But if you're having a tough time mustering up the courage to face the day, a little lipstick never hurt anyone. Here are three ways that I've found makeup to be helpful in terms of self-confidence:
1. It Can Be A Pick-Me-Up: Like I said before, there are some days where all you need is a little something extra to get you going. Whether it's a bright lip or some extra mascara, sometimes all it takes is that one extra step in your beauty routine to give you the confidence you need to take on your day.
2. It Can Help You Put Your Best Face Forward: We all have features that we're self-conscious about, but thankfully, cosmetics can help us downplay those features and accentuate our best ones. If you don't like your nose, try contouring; if you don't like your eyes, try a Smokey eye; if you don't like your lips, try a plumping lip gloss. Whatever your issue may be, chances are there's a cosmetic solution for it!
3. It Can Help You Feel More Like Yourself: There's nothing wrong with wanting to look your best-- in fact, I think it's admirable! If putting on makeup helps you feel more like yourself, then by all means, do it! We all have different comfort levels when it comes to cosmetics, and as long as you're comfortable with what you're wearing (and not wearing), that's all that matters.
I hope this post has helped show you the power of makeup-- not just in terms of how it can make you look but also in terms of how it can make you feel. If you're struggling with self-confidence, I encourage you to experiment with different products and find what works for you. Chances are there's a whole world of beauty out there waiting for you to discover it!
